Sweet Heart -- Central Iowa Newborn Photographer

The proud parent of this little girl is one of my best friends since junior high. She had her baby a few days earlier than I was expecting. I was out of town with family so was bummed when I couldn't get to the hospital to meet her. I did finally get to meet her a one week, one day old during her newborn session. And she is a cutie! Look below at her pics for proof. Her full lips look like a heart upside down and she was so sweet during her session (hence my blog post title). And I just loved all her dark hair and of course, the baby chub, folds and squishiness she is sporting. Congrats Lindsay on the addition of a baby girl into your family. You better start making room with all those trucks and tools in your house for all the fun girl stuff that's to come.

Tutu cute! -- Central Iowa Baby Photographer

I love, love, love when I get to hang out with baby girls during my sessions. It makes my heart leap seeing them so tiny because it brings memories flooding back of my two little girls when they were just babies. I will always have a special spot in my heart for baby girls. They are just so darn cute...especially when you put a bow in their hair and a fluffy tutu, adorable sun hat or a beautiful outfit on. Baby M definitely delivered during her photo session. She is a model in the making. She just hung out cooing and smiling throughout my time with her. This could be because she had a full tummy, that she was able to have the session in the comfort of her own home or both. Either way, I had a great time playing with her, catching up with mom and doing what I love... capturing babies growing and changing with my camera.

Welcome to the World -- Central Iowa Newborn Photographer

You'll see more of this sleeping beauty in a couple of weeks when we do her scheduled family session with big bother and mom and dad. In the meantime, enjoy a few images from her newborn session that we held recently because little miss L decided she was ready to join the world a couple of weeks early. At only weighing a whopping five pounds, she was such a doll during her first modeling session. I point out five pounds because to me, this is so teeny tiny. Both of my girls were near and over 8.5 pounds at birth. I'm amazed each time I get to hold such a teeny tiny baby like her.

Enjoy mom and dad. Looking forward to seeing you for your family session soon.

July 4, 2010 - Central Iowa Child Photographer

With both of my girls all decked out for the 4th of July, I only managed to get a few pictures of Addison. Kensi wanted nothing to do with my directions and my camera for the moment. While I love love love the pictures when kids give me that great eye contact and even their cute smiles, I also know the importance of photos that not only capture what they look like, but what they act like. While these images won't go on the wall, they will for sure become a scrapbook page so the girls can look back and remember how they both looked and acted on July 4, 2010. Hope everyone had a great 4th and fireworks display to watch.

Baby Boy in the Grass -- Central Iowa Child Photographer

I've photographed this little guy since he was a newborn. He keeps getting cuter and cuter in my book. At this photo session, (he turned nine months old) he was Mr. Serious. With his mom and me being silly, we did manage to get a few smiles out of him. Since his mom and dad met at and graduated from Simpson College, we held his photoshoot in the grassy, park area on the campus. It's fun to incorporate a rememberable place for the parents/family into photo sessions. So if you are thinking about booking a session with me, remember to mention any meaningful spots that we could consider doing some photos at.

Just because

Just because my Kensi bear is so cute! Too bad my sunglasses didn't make it too many more days after these photos. Kensi' little curious hands got the best of them and broke the arm. Good thing Target sunglasses aren't too expensive and I can pick up another pair one of my many trips to the best shopping place ever for moms.... Target.

Better Late Than Never -- Central Iowa Family Photographer

This post is all about my hubby (in honor of the recent Father's Day). And as my title says, better  late than never. I'm only a week or so behind, right? :) I share about my kids here and there on my blog and talk about them with my clients but do not talk too much about my other half. I've been with Chris since I was 18 and within 6 months of dating, knew I wanted to marry him. To this day, I love him just as much or more as back in the day when we were two college students who couldn't get enough of each other. We've grown together and I love the fact that we still can't get enough of each other.

One of these things of growing together is figuring out a way to make my dreams that I didn't know I would want or needed after having kids come true. And recently, Chris fullfilled one of his promises to me that he made nearly 4 years ago. This is a very special time for our family and I'm happy to share  the news with you. He cares deeply about my happiness and helped put plans in place in addition to working really hard to get his start-up business off the ground so I could be home with our girls more and focus more on photography. About a month ago, I was able to quit my full-time 8-5 desk job in public relations and am now a stay-at-home mom. I've loved every single minute of it so far. Regarding photography, I am still doing it part-time holding sessions in the evenings and weekends. This is a very big gift he has given me. I'm one thankful, happy mama/wife/photograher!

Happy “be-lated” Father's Day to all the other dads out there... especially the daddy's of all the cute little ones I've been so fortunate to photograph.
