Blog makeover

Hi there blogger followers,

You'll notice that my blog looks a little different, especially at the top. On the backside, my blog is under construction and getting a little makeover. However, in the meantime, I've managed to mess little things here and there on my blog's current look.

Anyways, just wanted to point that out since it looks a little boring right now at the top to me.

Enjoy the rest of your week! -- Debbie

Toes in the sand -- Central Iowa Child Photographer

For no other reason than wanting updated photos of her kids, these kiddos' mom scheduled a photo session. I love that and think it's so important to continue to get professional photos of your family taken after the milestone ages take place when a child is really young. To do something that celebrated summer while at the same time avoiding the typical indoor backdrop generic type of session, we headed to the beach. Boy was it bright out for such an early start to our day. Generally overcast is ideal for shooting photographs rather than direct sunlight, however, this sister and brother group bared with me, squinty eyes and all, to get some fresh photo for mom and dad. Enjoy the sneak peak of these cuties and a piece of summertime...

Brothers -- Central Iowa Child Photographer

Ahhh.... aren't these two brothers just adorable! And to top it off, they are such sweet, fun little boys. Big brother was all about loving on his little brother throughout the session which I thought was sos so sweet. I can only imagine all the fun boy play and action these two have together at home.

Having a house filled with two little girls, the rough and tough brotherly love is something I'll never get to experience (ok, freak out moment as I typed that... unless our third child turns out to be boy twins. Hopefully, I will not be eating the words above in a year or so.) So I'll continue to enjoy my sessions when I get to photograh little boys. It's so fun and fresh in my world.

Enjoy mom and dad your sneak peek... and thanks for the opportunity to get to meet your little guys.

Rain, Rain, Go Away -- Central Iowa Child Photographer

I think I finally sang the "Rain Rain Go Away" song enough that Mother Nature finally heard me and brought out the sun for Little E's one year old birthday photo session. We had to reschedule it two times because of the weather so I was so glad that the storms passed and this particular Sunday evening turned out beautiful.

Little E started out showing her mom and dad a new talent, sticking her tongue out at them. But then she made up for it by blowing them sweet kisses with her little baby hands and smiling pretty with her big, beautiful blue eyes.

I also had mom and dad hop in a few for the fun of it. I love the one of them all laughing together. Those true moments are the best kind to capture with a photo because of all the emotions they tend to invoke.

And I thought I would share this one in Little E's sneak peek just because I like it and it's one of my favorites of the bunch. Enjoy mom and dad. There are actually a ton more images on your CD that I loved but couldn't spoil them all for you by showcasing them on the blog. You'll have to wait a few more days for Mr. Postman to deliver them to your mailbox. :)

What you get - Central Iowa child photographer

I had the pleasure of my mom coming along to my photoshoot this weekend. All was good until she whipped out her camera and had me as the subject during my photography session with these adorable little two year old twin girls. But I thought I would get over it and give you a glimpse into what a session is like with DKA Photography, also known as Debbie Arringdale, since after all, it's just me. A one-shop person doing the whole enchilada...from booking your session, to taking your photos, to putting the final touches on each image. And unlike the famous quote, "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get," I think it's important to know exactly what you'll get when you book a session with me.

Throughout the session, I play, I talk to the kids about kid stuff, I act goofy, I sing (sorry to those around that have to listen to me though), we jump and we dance. And the outcome is photos that showcase your child's personality, smile, unique things that make them "them" and their true beauty at the stage they are in.

Enjoy your sneak peak mom. Hope dad likes his Father's Day gift of photos.

Grandma and Great Grandma hopped in the photos at the session for a 4-generation image. It was so fun to see them all together enjoying a beautiful summer morning.

Little Peanut - Central Iowa child photographer

I can't believe this little peanut just turned one this week. I've photographed her since she was a newborn and while that seems like it was forever ago, it also seems like it was just yesterday.

This gets me thinking about why "time" makes people feel this way, especially with children? I gave birth to Addison four years ago yet I can't believe she's been in my world for four whole years already. I've said good morning and kissed her good night basically every day for four years. That's 1,460 days. Yet, I feel like it's only been a handful of days I've been luckily enough to do this. It's one of those things I'll never get. I just try to remember to slow down and it's ok to say no to things in life in order to savor all the small and big moments I have with Addison. It's when I get super busy is when life seems to go even faster.

What about you? Have you slowed down lately with your child... to smell the roses? Listen to the birds chirp? Purposely splash in a puddle?

Now on with the picture show of one year old little Rylie ... enjoy!

Baby rolls -- Central Iowa Baby Photographer

The purpose of this photoshoot was to capture Baby J's cute chubbiness for his parents before it disappears and is something they miss. I love the fact that they wanted to capture something that makes Baby J “him” and not necessarily only doing a photoshoot to celebrate the milestone of turning a new month older. I remember doing this for my little Kensington a year ago when she was in this stage where her tongue hung out ALL of the time. I now have it printed as an 11x17 image and framed. I know I would have forgotten this cute, quirky stage she went through that made her “her” for a few months as a baby. What is that “thing” that makes your baby who they are right now? Get our your camera and take a picture or email me today to set up a photoshoot to professionally capture it.  (debbie@dkaphotography.com)

Now without futher ado, Baby J and his cute 7 month old baby rolls.

Oh my goodness, super cuteness here -- Central Iowa child photographer

From newborn to running toddler, this is the fifth season little one B and I have had together. I'm tickeled how she has grown and changed each time I get to play and photograph her over the last 18 months. I adore seeing my clients every few months; it's the best feeling to capture the time passing so quickly and to catch up with mom and dad. At 18 months, little one B is getting quite the personality thqat she showcases with some great facial expressions. And I was shocked how long her hair has gotten in just a few months. Her curls were super adorable so I had to capture those for mom. Who knows how long they will last, right!
