Now booking for December

Just wanted to give my visitors a heads up that I am now booking for December sessions. My November time slots are full so be sure to check back for lots of sneak peaks of family and children sessions. Plus, I have two newborn sessions that I get to use my new props on. I can't wait.

Displaying those images - idea for you - Central Iowa photographer

I ran across two new ideas on displaying your photographs in your home while browsing through the recent Pottery Barn catalog. I love both ideas and would like to do at some point. I apologize in advance for the quality of these images. I scanned them in from the magazine.

I love how this photo display is arranged on the wall. I could see this in my own home at the top of my stairs. Then as we are walking up the stairs, this beautiful wall display of meaningful images would be right in front of us to enjoy. Also, it would be neat to have black and white photos mixed in with colorful photos. I think it would work really well together.
This idea stood out to me as a great centerpiece for the family table. And it wouldn't just have to be for the fall season. With a basic glass piece like this, you could decorate on the inside for each season and have photos that go with that season a part of it. Fall is here and almost gone as fast as days have been going for me lately so I'm already thinking about how I could decorate something like this for Christmas.
Photos are meant to be displayed and enjoyed. I hope you have multiple images decorating your home to enjoy. With digital photography, there are so many of us, including myself, that have hard drives full of wonderful, meaningful images. I hope this gives you two ideas do display your images in your home rather than being buried in your hard drive.

The W family - Central Iowa family photographer

Can you say adorable! From head to toe, this family knows how to get dressed up for a family holiday session. While we captured a lot of great family photos for potential holiday cards, I’m only giving you a sneak peek of some of the other great images we caught. I don’t want to spoil the family Christmas card photo for Mom and Dad. Their friends and family will just have to wait until it arrives in their mailbox this December.

Speaking of holiday cards, if you are thinking about getting professional ones taken, I recommend having your session take place before Thanksgiving in order to allow time to receive your images, order holiday cards and prepare the mailing.

Now back to this wonderful family. Here’s the sneak peak. Thanks Mom for working we me on this session. You’re kids are adorable and such a joy to work with. Plus, your warm personality made this session enjoyable. Enjoy your photos.

Jane & Joan - Central Iowa family photographer

You’ve met my Aunt Joan from Cali, now meet my Aunt Jane and her twin sister from Oklahoma. While they were both in town, they asked me to take a few professional images of them….and we had it scheduled for one of the most windy days of the Fall. Remember that really windy Sunday a few weekends ago here in central Iowa? The kind where no matter how stiff the hairspray hold, you were getting the wind blown look. But we managed to find pockets where we would stay out of the wind while still finding the flattering natural light.

In addition to spending time with my family and capturing them on camera, I loved that my aunts wanted to capture their special connection through photography at this stage in their life. Children grow and change so quickly when they are younger so it’s always valuable to have professional photos taken to capture who they are, but as adults we tend to not get in front of the camera. However, the connection you may have with your husband or wife, sister, mother, brother or father, best cousin or best friend, is still important and is something valuable to preserve through a photograph forever.

While I specialize in children and families in the central Iowa area, I would be happy to discuss a session showing an important adult connection you are wanting to capture to see if it fits in with my style and your needs. You can contact me through my Web site.

Role models - Central Iowa family photographer

Meet my Aunt Joan and Uncle Dan! While I don’t get to see them often since I live in Iowa and they live in California, their love, respect and compassion for one another is something that always sticks out in my mind. Plus they know how to have fun together after 25 years! These are all qualities that I believe are key to keep alive in a marriage. My aunt and uncle have done a great job at this and have diffidently been role models for me in this area. Congrats you two. I wish you 25 more years of happiness!

Taylor and Brandon - Central Iowa wedding photographer

Their love for each other and hunting was clear and celebrated from the moment they each put their wedding attire on for their big day. From the guys’ tux, to the bridesmaids’ dresses to the camo just married truck tailgate sign to the reception venue, their hunting wedding theme was carried out beautifully. Then topped off with the love they have for each other and excitement to begin their new life together, this fall wedding will be memorable in the minds of many including myself. Congrats Taylor and Brandon!

Beautiful baby bump

One of my longest and still to this day, best friend, scheduled a session with me to capture the pregnancy of her second baby. She is having another girl, which I am so excited for since I'm a mom of two girls myself. I see girl play dates in our future! And if you don't believe in pregnancy glow, just take a look at her. She looks amazing for being only a couple weeks out from the big due date. Congrats Tiffany!

Say hello!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love to hear from my blog readers so don't forget to leave a comment to say hi when you stop by.

Photoshoot to Scrapbook Page

I love the changing of seasons so at the first hint of fall, I had my girls out for one of their fall photoshoots. In addition to photography, I love scrapbooking as a creative outlet. I do not get to scrapbook nearly enough due to time, but I recently got this paper line from That Scrappy Girl, which inspired me to make time.

Have you had something in mind that you have wanted to do with your photos lately? Maybe print new ones for your desk, frames around your home, for the grandparents? Create a mini-album, blow an image up on a canvas, scrapbook? With the start of the new month, I encourage you to make time to do whatever you've had in mind for your photos.

Photos are meant to be displayed and enjoyed. Surround your home and life with beautiful images of you and your loved ones!
